Welcome to the Queer and Trans* Ecologies (QTE) Interdisciplinary Initiative website.

The Queer and Trans* Ecologies Interdisciplinary Initiative spans the arts, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences to explore questions in the fields of queer and trans* ecologies about new embodiments and social relations in the Anthropocene. The project was initiated with an Interdisciplinary Collaborative Workshop Grant at the University of Minnesota, organized by Professor Erin L. Durban.

We are planning a dynamic, multi-day symposium on the University of Minnesota—Twin Cities campus on March 23-25, 2023. See links below for more information, and check back for details.

The symposium is sponsored by the UMN College of Liberal Arts Queer and Trans Ecologies Interdisciplinary Collaborative Workshop and made possible with an Imagine Fund Special Events Grant. Our generous co-sponsors include the UMN Institute for Advanced Study; Critical Disability Studies Collective; RIDGS (Center for Race, Indigeneity, Disability, Gender & Sexuality Studies); the Liberal Arts Engagement Hub; the Environmental Humanities Initiative; the Departments of American Studies, Anthropology, Art, Gender Women & Sexuality Studies, and Geography; and the Department of Forest Resources DEI Committee.

For disability accessibility, our event will be available by Zoom as well as in person with masking required indoors. Masking is an important form of care that we provide for our community members who are immunocompromised, disabled, elderly, and caregivers. It enables people to participate in person who would otherwise not be able to without great health risks to themselves and others. Thank you for collectively taking care of our event organizers, staff, participants, and audience members.
